reverse alcoholismIs there a disorder where a person becomes anxious and apprehensive when other people are drinking alcohol, but not necessarily drunk? He cannot stand to be around people who are drinking. Thank you in advance
Sponsored LinksRe: reverse alcoholismThere is no disorder per se. This person may have something in his background that makes it difficult for him to see drinkers. It may be there was an alcoholic family member. It may be a distaste for those who are losing control of their faculties in a minor or major way.
Sometimes there is no real reason to name things as a disorder but merely to say what is going on. In other words "What you see is what you get" or an individual who gets anxious in this one situation. The question arises as to whether it hurts this individual or not to become anxious in this situation. I really don't see this as a case that needs "treatment". If there is some functional impairment, desensitization or exposure with response prevention (see treatments for Panic Disorder) might be useful.
