Re: Hair Loss and Scalp PainI have one question for you, have you seen a Dermatologist that specializes in hair loss. I have been experiencing the same symptoms as you especially when I get stressed or overtired. I have seen a Dermatologist they did a scalp byopsy to rule out Lichen-planopilaris. I have Lichen Planis a sore inside my right cheek, it has been there for the past 5 years. Just a few years ago I noticed my hair getting thinner on the top front part of my scalp. The Dermatologist found a few spots where the hair is no longer growing, thus a byopsy for planopilaris as it is one of the symptoms of the disorder. They have ruled out Thyroid condition and lupus of the scalp.
I think if you have not already seen a specialist, you should as soon as possible. I have researched the condition on line and found that if caught in time it is treatable. That may not be the case for everyone including me, but I am optimistic. Good luck to you, I will post once my byopsy results are available and what treatment was recommended for me.
Re: Hair Loss and Scalp PainHave been diagnosed with lichen planopilarus - I did not tolerate topical cortisone creams well and so received injections of cortisone right into my scalp. I am a middle age otherwise healthy female. The injections have helped about 25% but still having a great deal of hair loss. Did you receive a
definite diagnosis.
Re: Hair Loss and Scalp PainYes, I did receive a definite diagnosis with a scalp biopsy. Continue to get injections into my scalp and my doctor changed the topical medicine. BUT I am still losing a great deal of hair and, ofcourse, this is a little scary. Hope to hear back from you
