My Semen Analysis - Do I have a chance?

Post a new topicby kumarm on Thu Aug 21, 2008 1:09 pm

I am sorry I posted this in another forum by mistake.
I am 38 and my wife is 31. We have been trying to conceive for about 4 months without success and just to be sure I went to a urologist 2 weeks ago without expecting any bad news. I am in shock.
2 subsequent semen analysis done within 1 week showed very low sperm count.
The urologist has now referred me to another urologist who is a male fertility expert.
The recent analysis done with Quest showed the following results.
Total Volume --- 3.7ml
Sperm concentration - Spermatozoa Present, < 0.1 million/ML
Motility -- Too few to assess
Sperm Morphology -- Too few to assess
Ph - Test not performed. Sample received in lab >2 hrs.
Leukocytes - None seen
Red Blood cells - None seen.

I will greatly appriciate it if some can explain what these results mean or if they have seen a similar situation. My urologist simply said that there could be a blockage but he did not notice any abnormalities and referred me to another urologist who has given me an appointment after 3 weeks.

For many years I had a dull ache in my left testes, when it is softly touched it slightly aches which sometimes goes up my groin and down my legs. Sometimes it is ok.
I also have hyperthyroidsm and have had a ubmbilical(just above my belly button) hernia surgery.
