A year of painFor a year now, I have dealt with this without resolution.
One night I woke up and my penis was numb like your arm when you lay on it, and there was a terrible pain in my right side. After the pain subsided I noticed a bulge in the perineum area (between anus and scrotum) and in one side of scrotum. The hospital said I had epidydimitis and I took medicine for it. But the bulge and perineum pain still did not go away. I had ultrasounds, std tests and many other tests and I have seen 2 urologists. The 1st one gave up and said he thought it was something for a gastro-interologist. The 2nd one diagnosed me as having prostatitis for which I took cypro for about 8 weeks, up until yesterday and quit because it was doing nothing. Besides the symtoms seemed like they match none of the ones typical of prostatitis My doctor said he thought it might be the varicocele or the hydrocele that showed up on tests but both urologists insisted they were too small to be related whereas the lump I am complaining about is large. I also asked about it being a hernia but the dr says no hernia or herniated tissue showed in any of the tests I have had. So here is what I know now The pain and the lump mostly are there when I lay on a hard surface, stand in place, lift something or strain.
Re: A year of painSometimes pain of this type may be caused by a hypersensitivity of the nerves in the groin area. We have developed some new treatment options for this type of pain. If interested, feel free to look up the Groin/ Testicular Pain program at teh Urology Department at University of Florida.
