Bilateral Varicocelectomy complications, HELP! (short versioI am 31 years old. I have had a varicocele in my left testicle for 8 years and one in my right for 2 years now. I went in to a urologist and my test results were the following; sperm count <1 million per milliliter, sperm motility <50%, testosterone 300, LH and FSH normal, Left testicle was a grade 3 varicocele Right testicle was a grade 1. The surgery was a bilateral subinguinal varicocelectomy with full magnification.
Post surgery I had incredible pain and swelling and the testicles were red and purple and the scrotum were full with swelling. The doctor ordered an ultrasound and it showed no arterial blood flow to the testicles. He then prescribed Viagra, and celebrex to increase circulation and decrease swelling. The testicles took three weeks to get back to normal size. Now my left testicle is almond shaped and slightly solid, and my right testicle is half as big as it was pre surgery and fairly solid. I can get erections, but it is hard to climax, and my sex drive is low. I am now just waiting for the 90 day mark on February 21st 2009 to see if the testicles produce sperm and/or testosterone. I have never heard of this complication in all my research pre surgery about varicoceles. If you have heard of anyone with similar complications, or have advice please post a reply. Thank You
