Right-Sided VaricoceleHello,
I am a 27 year old male and have a question about what appears to be a right-sided varicocele For as long as I can remember I've always noticed that the "vein" going to the right side of my scrotum was larger in diameter than the left side. I'm not sure how long this "vein" has been this way, but I know I can remember noticing it when I was 14 or 15 so it was probably there before this time. At any rate, I paid no attention to it (although now, at age 27, I assume its a right sided varicocele). About 6 years ago I noticed a small (2mm), red, spot on my scrotum. I really didnt think much of it until a few more of these spots popped up. A doctor told me these were angiokeratoma of fordyce and that they were harmless (in fact for some odd reason, I remember as a child seeing that my father had these too. and no, there was nothing sexual going on between my father and i -- i've just seen him naked before when i was a little kid). The varicocele was not brought up at this doctors visit. Anyway, in the past 4 or so years, the presence of these angiokeratoma have has increased from 1 or 2 to 15 or 20. What I presume is a right-sided varicocele is still there and disappears when I lay down. Occasionally, I have a very, very dull pain about 5 inches to the left and 2-3 inches below my right hip bone. No other symptoms whatsoever. No testicular pain, scrotal pain, back pain, etc. I've read that a lot of varicocele form during puberty. This may be my case, although I cannot pinpoint the exact time it presented itself. Any incite would be much appreciated. Thank you.
