Varicocele / Micro Surgery

Post a new topicby mk379941 on Wed May 07, 2008 10:58 am

I had bilateral varicocele surgery done end of dec last year. My original count before the surgery was 1.5 million with morph of 30%, and 37% fast swimmers. I tested 2 weeks to early for the 3 month SA, and it came back with 2 million count, morp of over 65% and 75% rapid swimmers. I go for my followup SA 6 months 4th of july weekend. Has anyone been in a similar situation, and there count went to a normal level? My doc did say i went to early for the my 3 month exam. I did notice that my testicular athorphy did reverse. The size increased over 30% from prior to the surgery. Just curious what other peoples experience was after.

At least you had some change in your sperm count. My husband had the 1.5 million before the surgery and at the 3 month test he had 0. Imagine how we felt. I'm feeling more positive...They say that it may take up to 2 years to see any change

From what my doctor said is that at the 6 month mark you typically see the true results at three months you may not have fully healed. Under my urologists guidence I also took vitamins from theralogix, the fertility blend. From the articles i've read is that a good vitamin regimen can help with blood flow etc, and heal quicker from the surgery. I am not going to recommand you try it since I am not a doctor but check into it. http://www.theralogix.com Its a little pricey but they are one of the few vitiamin companies which are approved / inspected to verify the labels.

Dont give up hope.

Thanks for your encouraging words. All I have to do now is try to convince my husband to go get the test done. We are past our 6 month exam and he is putting it off. He really wanted to have children and when he went to take the first test prior to the surgery he just knew there was nothing wrong. He was devastated. I can't imagine what it must feel for a man. I pray that God gives him the strength and the courage to go take the test. I don't want to pressure him into having it. I know that he will go when he's ready. Again, thank you for your support

I can understand where he is coming from, it was devistating enough to find out the problem is due to low sperm count etc... I would just let him know that either way you are going to be ok with the outcome.

I asked my urologist he said that sometimes the count goes down at the 3 month mark, but typically returns either to the former levels or higher. Its fairly rare to have it stay down. Also look into the vitamins it maybe the extra edge. See what your husbands urologist says about it. There are plenty of studies on the web documenting that viatamins and a good diet makes a difference as well. Hope it all works out.
